My late mother was a devout Christian and believed in the power of positive thinking. She once gave me a beautiful little picture frame that to this day I always keep on my desk, where I can look at it every day. Inside the picture frame is some pressed flowers and the following inspirational quote:
A Philosophy For Life
Keep your thoughts positive
Because your thoughts become your words
Keep your words positive
Because your words become your actions
Keep your actions positive
Because your actions become your habits
Keep your habits positive
Because your habits become your values
Keep your values positive
Because your values become your destiny
I only found out years after she gave me the card that the message came from the late Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, an ideological leader of India during the Indian independence movement from British rule and a man known for his philosophy founded upon non-violence. Today he is commonly referred to as Mahatma Gandhi. The name Mahatma means “Great Soul” which is a totally appropriate name for this great man, in my humble opinion.
Gandhi understood that there is a direct link between our thoughts and our destiny and that it is therefore very important that we keep our thoughts positive.
Many people mistakenly believe that positive thinking and the law of attraction is all nonsense. But, when you consider Gandhi’s words, it’s easier to understand that there is indeed a causal link between our thoughts, our words, our actions, our habits, our values and our destiny. And, that it all start with our thoughts.
